What is Sandblasting?

Sandblasting is a general term used to describe the process of propelling very fine particles of material at very high speeds to clean or to etch a surface. Sand is the most commonly used material (hence the name given to the process), but really any small, uniform elemnts or pieces will work.

Using Sandblasting as a cleaning method has been performed for over a hundred years, usually priming a surface for paint or sealant. Sandblasting may also be used for such projects as cleaning the hulls of ships or large structures such bridges or monuments or smaller household items such as stoves and radiators.
